    The Galt House Hotel  - A legendary destination among hotels in the city.  The Galt House is the largest downtown meeting and convention hotel in the Southeast region and the only wanterfront hotel in Louisville.  We are located adjacent to the KFC YUM! Center and walking distance to many restaurants and attractions in the downtown area. Our hotel features over 130,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, 1300 guest rooms, six restaurants and lounges, and much more.     We are actively seeking a hands-on culinary genius whose primary purpose will be to achieve catering revenue, profit and customer satisfaction goals under the supervision of the Executive Chef. Responsible for overseeing menu planning, food presentation and preparation, the upkeep of the kitchen, managing the  staff, inventory and labor budgets.


    • Oversees the daily operations of all banquets including staff while making sure that all food, banquet and otherwise, meet specifications and standards for all functions.
    • Support the Galt House hallmarks and standards.
    • Responsible for the supervision, training, scheduling staff and handling disciplinary issues.
    • Ability to cross function in every position of kitchen.
    • Meets with potential clients to discuss menu options.
    • Develops menus based on client specifications and contracts.
    • Presents finished product to the client for final approval.
    • Possess the ability to handle any menu ranging from breakfast buffets to corporate lunch meetings with sandwiches to formal dinners with multi-course meals that are individually plated.
    • Helps to maintain a safe and sanitary kitchen by ensuring spills and other potential hazards are addressed immediately.
    • Ensure that all food, banquet and otherwise, meet specifications and standards for all functions.
    • Develop, implement and cost menus and buffets.
    • Communicate with sales and convention services to ensure guest satisfaction.
    • Meet with vendors to determine best pricing.
    • Other duties as assigned by Executive Chef.



    • Culinary degree or equivalent experience.
    • Ability to read and understand Banquet Event Orders.
    • Generally 5+ years of experience in high volume banquet kitchen.
    • Computer skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Have the ability to connect with people quickly in an outgoing, friendly manner.
    • Persuasive communication skills to gain the interest and involvement of others in the work process.
    • Possess a strong sense of urgency.
    • Ability to get work done in complete, accurate detail and in accordance with company standards.
    • Ability to work at a faster than average pace.
    • Ability to be thorough with follow up of delegated work.
    • Positive leadership skills to train, teach, and motivate a team.
    • Will be subjected to wet floors, temperature extremes, and loud noises.
    • Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, and carry up to 40 pounds on a regular basis.
    • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and move from area to area in the kitchen.
