    The Human Resources Department is seeking an outgoing, passionate and energetic Director of Learning and Development to provide the organization with the tools and training its employees need to ensure the successful operation of the properties in the ALJSCO portfolio.  This experienced professional will partner with internal and external experts as well as department leaders to develop, execute and manage strategic training plans to ensure brand and Company standards are understood and adhered to throughout the organization. 


    • Aligns, communicates and implements the company’s strategic learning and development programs and initiatives
    • Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, implementing and managing training programs
    • Partners with internal and external experts to develop and deliver credible and relevant training
    • Provides on-going coaching and guidance for departmental leaders to ensure consistency in standards
    • Enforces the Company’s brand, culture and core values through new hire orientation and continuous improvement
    • Focuses on special projects, workforce development, succession planning and leadership development.
    • Manages new hire orientation and onboarding process
    • Ensures all team member training, documentation and testing is completed in the required time frame
    • Ensures all training material is up to date and in compliance with local, state and federal law or association/industry best practices
    • Manages the design, communication and execution of the Company’s performance management process
    • Supports the development of a training budget and works within the approved budgetary guidelines for the company by estimating, forecasting and anticipating requirements, trends and variances
    • Provide guidance to the leadership team regarding learning and development needs
    • Functions as a member of the Human Resources team by supporting and backing up other members of the team
    • Other duties as assigned


    • 3 years of Training, Learning and Development experience, preferably in the hospitality industry
    • Experience managing strategic learning and development programs in a complex environment
    • Independent, self-starting thought leader with a proven record of developing and implementing successful and sustainable training programs
    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field
    • Industry or function-related certification preferred, such as a PHR or SHRM-CP
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English required
    • Bilingual ability preferred (Spanish)
    • Ability to collaborate with leadership teams and present innovative ideas
    • Strong computer skills, especially MS Office and PowerPoint
    • Exceptional presentation and public speaking skills
    • Ability to push, pull or lift up to 50 lbs on an infrequent basis.
    • Endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, such as twisting, bending or climbing stairs.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods of time to conduct necessary training.
    • Satisfactorily communicate with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding.
